"Hi, can i get your phone number?"
Sounds like an innocent question coming from someone checking you out. So why is it so sinister sounding coming from someone checking you out at the store. The person you will soon be handing your money, card, check to.
I was curious as to why they would be asking this question, instead of the regulatory Zip code or Email one. When I went to the mailbox today, I found out.
My Wife recently shopped at The Children's Place, a small overpriced clothing store for kids. The Lady asked for our phone number and without thinking we just gave it to her. No big deal, was she going to call me and give me a survey on how the service was and maybe offer a gift certificate. Oh no, they just use reverse phone directories to send you mail.
If you have a valid phone number, why not a valid address and name to go with it. From now on when they ask your phone number, give them theirs. Please do not give them Jenny's as she wont answer and you will just be making another person mad. Unless of course she wants to take a survey.
