It seems everyone's favorite mumbler (besides Eddie Vedder) is putting a tour together in support of John Kerry. Bruce Springsteen's Vote for Change Tour is sponsored by Moveon.org, the infamous anti-sanity anti-bush website. the same site responsible for the Bush is Hitler ads.
Fortunately, the Vote for Change tour will be available to everyone. Everyone who is willing to spend $50 - $90 a ticket. All proceeds will be donated to the Democratic Campaign or Smear Bush, its fun campaign. Whichever is legal under the new campaign finance laws.
Babyface, Bright Eyes, Jackson Browne, Dave Matthews Band, Death Cab for Cutie, the Dixie Chicks, John Fogerty, Ben Harper, Jurassic 5, John Mellencamp, Keb’ Mo’, My Morning Jacket, Pearl Jam, Bonnie Raitt, R.E.M., and James Taylor are all slated to perform.
3 of these acts are still said to be relevant.
Apparently, republicans are forming their own tour. Some alleged republican musicians are Metallica, Godsmack, LostProphets, 3 Doors Down, Kid Rock, Ted Nugent, Martina Mcbride, Sara Evans, Toby Keith, Charlie Daniels, Britney Spears, hatebreed, KSAD, and Johnny Ramone.
I did read a couple interesting quotes in relation to this topic though. Tom Johnson said "I don't even know why people take their views seriously. People act like celebs are in on some special information, that they are gifted with extra vision and can see clearly things we pions obviously aren't privy to." and Matt Sussman's "Weak-willed fans: "Oh, if John Cougar is gonna vote for Kerry, so will I!"".
The only thing more annoying than celebrity endorsements are foreign celebrity endorsements. I don't mind Coldplay helping make trade fair or Bono helping Aids. I do mind them telling me who to vote for as if being an American I am too stupid to figure it out myself.
That is all.
